Typically when we think of design in communications, we think of graphic design or the layout of a webpage or email newsletter. Rarely, do we use the word design when speaking about video. In fact, part of the intrigue of video is the mysterious nature of what goes on behind the scenes. In fact, the whole concept of "behind the scenes" may be popularized by video and film production more than by any other industry. So, what exactly happens behind the scenes and how can communicators break through the mystery and learn it for themselves?
The art of design is perhaps the most overlooked and underutilized aspect of video production by those outside the craft. What so many observers call "movie magic" can be demystified by looking into the careful design that takes place during each and every step of the process.
In this workshop, attendees will be guided through the entire video production process from a new perspective - the perspective of the designer. They'll learn timeless tactics as well as trending techniques to take a proactive, careful approach to every step of the process whether they're producing the video themselves on a smartphone or working with a six-figure budget and twenty-member crew.
Attendees will experience:
- Design in Development - the Synopsis
- Design in Pre-production - the Storyboard
- Design in Production - the Director
- Design in Post-Production - the Cutting Room
- Design in Distribution - the Promotion
